A Great Vacation Leave

I was in Manila for my 5-day Vacation Leave, I spent these days, together with my sisters and relatives staying in Manila. I flew to Manila last Friday, November 21, 2008 at 6:20 AM and arrived at exactly 7:25 AM. My sister and cousin picked me up at the NAIA airport and brought me into my sister's house. Here's Sanji, the son of my cousin, acting as our driver. He's turning 1 year old the following day.

At 12 noon, me my eldest sister (Nene) and my niece Mariel, went to Makati for me to check-in at "Dusit Thani Manila"

a 5-star hotel located at Makati, near SM and Glorietta malls. We actually planned to stay there for only 1 night because I will be going back to my Aunt's house, the next day to enjoy the birthday celebration of Sanji.

A Long Time - I'm Back

I've been very busy this past few months, and had no time for blogging. So many works to do, until I have noticed, I haven't touched my blog. I felt guilty, as I'm looking at my blog, I can feel that it's like dying. I don't want it to happen.

There are so many things happened to us which is really unforgettable that I wanted to share with you. Like: typhoons, floods, of course also happy moments. But not now, maybe for the future. I will.

The great event, March 25-29, 2008 Bantayan Festival, Guimbal, Iloilo. I have shared some thoughts about the 6th BANTAYAN Festival in my previous post. I went home to my proud town, Guimbal to experience the great Bantayan Festival.

Together with my friends, we strolled around the beautiful plaza of Guimbal and enjoyed the shows every evening. There are many shows and events shared by the Guimbalanons which we enjoyed with the talented and good people from Guimbal.

Upcoming--Bantayan Festival of Guimbal 2008

After a long week holiday for the observation of Jesus Christ's death, here comes the celebration for the 6th BANTAYAN FESTIVAL.

GUIMBAL (gim-bal) - a kind of drum usually 30 cm high and 20 cm in diameter, made from hollowed-out trunk of a palm tree and covered of either goat or deer skin.

This festival will surely be a big tourist attraction for the five-day activities slated to be held starting today, March 25, 2008.

The festival's name "Bantayan" means watchtower. Historical facts tell us that the bantayans were built even before Spain's colonization of the Philippines. The Guimbalanon's peaceful existence was then constantly under attack by the Moro pirates.

But after the great naval battle that ensued in 1796 along the shorelines of the town, the people had to build five bantayans made of bamboo to watch the coast of Guimbal from possible marauders. The watchmen posted at the bantayans used drums then to alarm the people of the coming Moro vintas. To date, only three of these bantayans survived and lately were restored through a funding coming from First District Congressman Oscar Garin, Sr.

The tribal dance-drama to be done with the rhythm of the drums is similar to that of Western Visayas reknown Dinagyang festival, Ati-atihan, and Sinadya sa Halaran which are anchored on the history, customs and religious beliefs of the place.

So let's come to Guimbal and enjoy the beauty of the place and also of the said festival.

There are different comments about this movie. Comments like:

This movie is disgusting and should not exist.
This movie is bad on many levels. the script is horrible. the acting is bad. the torture is boring. if this movie wanted to make a statement it should have something going for it. And Chad how dare you compare this with Sunset Boulevard which has amazing acting and dialogue. two things this movie lacks. torture porn is going away, because there is no substance beyond the torture. this movie has no substance and no torture. it was boring. i thought it was going to be funny because of misused tech lingo. it actually did a good job on that just nothing else.
I thought the movie was way better than I thought it was going to be. I think the movie is really interesting to watch and it really goes at a good pace. The movie gets an 8 out of 10 because it was actually worth the $9.50 unlike some movies that are just better to wait for on DVD.

I made this blog without any thought of what would be the title of this blog. At first, I want to make a blog which tackles about business, money, finance, etc. But then, I was thinking about my other blog which entitled Life Trek which I planned to talked about life, journeys, but I end up with different topics.
